In adherence to Lok Sabha election guidelines and considering officials' tenure limitations, the state government executed a significant reshuffling today, impacting key positions. Dhaval Jain, formerly the commissioner of Howrah Municipality, assumes the role of Kolkata Municipality Commissioner in this administrative overhaul. Concurrently, Kolkata Municipal Corporation Commissioner Binod Kumar transitions to the role of principal secretary in the minority affairs and madrasah education department, with an additional charge of principal secretary in the department of correctional administration.
As part of this restructuring, Avanindra Singh has been relieved of his position as principal secretary in the fisheries department, taking on the role of divisional commissioner in Burdwan division. Simultaneously, the additional chief secretary of the environment department, holding dual responsibilities in the consumer affairs department, will now also oversee the fisheries department. This reshuffle aims to align with Lok Sabha election guidelines, addressing tenure-related considerations for officials who have held the same post for over three years.
