Dheeraj Sahu breaks silence: Rs 350 crore cash recovery linked to liquor business, not congress

Congress Member of Parliament, Dheeraj Sahu, has issued a response following the recovery of Rs 350 crore cash from locations associated with his family-run business. The income tax searches targeted the Sahu family-owned company, Boudh Distillery Private Limited, and related entities, spanning Odisha and Jharkhand from December 6 to December 15. Sahu, who has been active in politics for nearly 35 years, asserted that the seized funds have no connection with Congress or any political party.

Instead, he clarified that the money stems from his family's liquor business, which has a century-long legacy. Sahu emphasized that the cash, a significant amount from the sale of liquor, is entirely transparent and not linked to any political affiliations.

Amidst income tax searches resulting in the recovery of Rs 350 crore from locations linked to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu's family business, Sahu has strongly refuted any political involvement in the seized funds. In a statement to news agency ANI, he expressed hurt over the allegations, noting that this is the first time such accusations have been leveled against him in his three-decade-long political career. Sahu clarified that the recovered money belongs to his liquor business, which has been in operation for over 100 years.

He highlighted the transparent nature of their business and explained that the cash, inherent to the liquor industry's sales, is unrelated to Congress or any other political party. Sahu maintained that the matter is between his family and the Income Tax Department, assuring cooperation and clarification if required.
