No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Aditya Dhar’s latest spy thriller, Dhurandhar, has achieved an unprecedented milestone as its entire 11-track soundtrack entered the Spotify Global Top 200. This marks the first time a Bollywood film has seen its full album chart simultaneously on the international stage. While individual Indian hits have frequently gone viral, Dhurandhar has distinguished itself through consistent global consumption of its entire body of work, with the album debuting at number two on Spotify’s Global Top Albums chart.
The high-octane soundtrack, composed by National Award winner Shashwat Sachdev, has struck a chord across diverse markets, even breaking into the US Top Albums chart at number five. The high-energy Title Track currently holds the third spot globally, followed by soulful numbers like Ishq Jalakar and Karvaan. The album’s eclectic mix of cinematic scores, contemporary hip-hop, and Punjabi collaborations has bridged the gap between traditional Bollywood sounds and global streaming trends.
Shashwat Sachdev, known for his work on Uri: The Surgical Strike, expressed profound humility at the achievement, stating that the album was crafted with "trust, friendship, and love" rather than a chase for numbers. The album features high-profile collaborations with global stars like Hanumankind and Diljit Dosanjh, as well as experimental tracks like the Bahraini-inspired FA9LA (Sher-e-Baloch), which has turned into a major cultural talking point alongside the film's gritty narrative.
This musical victory coincides with the film’s massive commercial success, as Dhurandhar has already crossed the ₹600 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt, the film’s dominance in both theatres and on streaming platforms signals a new era for Indian cinema. International listeners are now moving beyond viral singles to engage with the full depth of a film’s narrative through its soundtrack.
