Digha gears up for grand inauguration of Jagannath temple with pre-celebrations and major security measures

Digha, East Medinipur: In preparation for the grand inauguration of the newly built Jagannath Temple in Digha, the coastal city is immersed in pre-celebration activities ahead of Akshay Tritiya. The official inauguration is scheduled for April 30, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee set to perform the installation of deities at the temple. As the date approaches, the city has transformed, with a festive atmosphere prevailing throughout, as residents and devotees eagerly await the religious ceremonies.

The temple administration has begun the rituals well in advance of the official inauguration. A significant peace yajna, led by Rajesh Dayitapatti, the chief priest of Puri’s Jagannath Temple, is underway. Approximately 60 devotees, including ISKCON’s co-vice president Radha Raman Das and other participants from various branches, are involved in this spiritual effort. The goal is to chant one crore mantras, as part of the auspicious preparations. Additionally, the deities of Lord Jagannath, Balram, Subhadra, and Sudarshan have already been bathed with sacred Ganga water and milk, marking an important ritual in the temple's consecration process.

The ongoing rituals are part of a larger, meticulously planned sequence of events. From April 29, the temple will host a major mahayajna, which will culminate with the official inauguration the following day. Tight security measures have been implemented throughout Digha to ensure safety during the celebrations. With daily havans and homa rituals continuing, the entire area is expected to remain a center of spiritual and cultural significance, as the Jagannath Temple becomes an important landmark in the region.
