Dilip gets Rural Development, Nishith to see North Bengal, Agnimitra takes Women & Child welfare dept

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari officially distributed portfolios to his first five cabinet ministers on Monday, May 11, 2026, marking a decisive step toward establishing his administration. The allocation balances regional influence with community representation, focusing on the BJP's primary electoral strongholds. Senior leader and former state president Dilip Ghosh has been entrusted with the crucial Panchayat and Rural Development, Animal Resources, and Agricultural Marketing departments, signaling a massive push to revitalize the state's agrarian economy and rural infrastructure.

The strategically vital North Bengal region will be under the supervision of Nishith Pramanik, who has been appointed as the Minister for North Bengal Development. Pramanik, a former Union Minister, will also utilize his experience to head the Sports and Youth Welfare departments. In a significant move for social welfare, Agnimitra Paul has been assigned the Women and Child Development department, along with the responsibility of Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, placing her at the center of the state's urban modernization plans.
