Dilip Ghosh left out of PM’s Bengal tour, says he’s ‘just a worker’ amid speculation of BJP rift

Former BJP state president and ex-MP Dilip Ghosh did not join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bengal tour this week. On Thursday morning, Ghosh was seen during his regular morning walk at New Town Eco Park, where he responded to questions about his absence. Ghosh stated, “I’m not an office-bearer. Those who are, have to follow protocol and be present with the Prime Minister. When he visits Kolkata, I will be there as a regular party worker.”

Asked why he was not attending even as an active worker, Ghosh said, “I am active on the ground with workers. I stand beside them as a common party member.” He emphasized that he continues to fulfill responsibilities given by the party and that tasks left incomplete by him will be taken forward by others. He added, “I try to contribute in a way that benefits the party.”

On being questioned about possible sidelining by state leadership, Ghosh said, “Whether someone has excluded me or not doesn’t matter. The party gave me responsibilities, which I carried out sincerely.” On the current party structure, he stated, “The elections are over. Committees are being formed across the country. Work will proceed based on new appointments. If the party gives me a role, I will take it up.”

Ghosh addressed violence in Bangaon and the blast near Diamond Harbour police station. He said, “Incidents like attacks on police stations and freeing of accused from custody are increasing in Bengal. The number of such cases is rising as people are losing fear of the administration.” On the Diamond Harbour incident, he remarked, “I have not seen firecrackers that cause such injuries. These blasts are like atom bombs, but efforts are being made to downplay them as fireworks.”

Regarding recent political issues, Ghosh commented on the Prime Minister’s visit, saying, “The Prime Minister is not coming with money, he is bringing a message. The law and order situation in Bengal is deteriorating, and BJP is the only way out.” On the meeting between job losers and the Chief Minister, Ghosh said, “New problems arise and old ones are forgotten. SSC pass candidates are still waiting. Problems are not being solved, they are increasing.” He also mentioned the RG Kar incident, stating, “The movement has not been resolved. Those involved have not received justice. TMC is trying to suppress the movement by scaring leaders.”
