Rain washes RCB vs KKR match; Defending champions knocked out of playoff race
BJP's former state president Dilip Ghosh visited the newly inaugurated Jagannath Dham in Digha on Wednesday, shortly after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's formal inauguration of the temple at 3:15 PM. Ghosh arrived at the temple around 5:30 PM, where Mamata, upon hearing of his arrival, returned to the site to provide him with a detailed tour and information about the temple.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari chose to boycott Mamata's Jagannath Dham event. Suvendu, who had earlier called for a counter-program in Kanthi, faced initial resistance from the state administration, which denied him permission for the event. However, after seeking approval from the Calcutta High Court, Suvendu held a ‘traditional rally’ in Kanthi while Dilip Ghosh made his way to Digha, bypassing Kanthi but not participating in the ‘Sanatani Sabha’ there.
The visit by Dilip Ghosh to the temple and the parallel rally by Suvendu Adhikari highlight the ongoing political dynamics surrounding religious events in West Bengal. Despite their political differences, both leaders are engaging in strategic actions linked to religious and cultural events, demonstrating the political significance these occasions hold in the state.
