No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A 28-year-old woman in Bengaluru allegedly died by suicide after being distressed over an astrologer’s prediction about her lifespan and married life. The incident was reported from NEL Layout under the Bagalagunte police station limits, and an unnatural death case has been registered.
According to police, the woman, employed with a private firm and working from home, had consulted an astrologer to seek clarity about her relationship with a man from Kodagu and whether it would culminate in marriage. Both families had reportedly agreed to the alliance. During the consultation, the astrologer allegedly told her that she had a “short lifespan” and that her marriage would not last beyond two years.
She was reportedly advised to perform special prayers and rituals over nine days to ward off impending danger and ensure a stable married life. Family members said she carried out the rituals at home, but the prediction left her anxious and fearful about her future.
On the day of the incident, she went to her room after dinner. When she did not respond to repeated calls, her family initially assumed she was occupied. Later in the evening, when there was still no response, they checked through a window and found her unresponsive. Police shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Investigators said family members were aware of her distress and had tried to reassure her. Further inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
