Indian shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar achieved a remarkable feat at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, securing gold in the men's 10m air rifle event. Panwar not only outperformed his opponents in the finals but also set a new world record with a score of 253.7, surpassing the previous record held by Chinese shooter Sheng Lihao. The 21-year-old showcased exceptional precision shooting throughout the competition, dominating both the qualification round, where he topped with 632.4 points, and the final, leaving Italian Dani Sollazo 1.9 points behind.
In his post-victory statement, Divyansh expressed his happiness, stating, "I am happy to win gold after a long time. I had been shooting well in recent times but was missing out. This will surely give me confidence coming into an important year." This victory marks Panwar's fifth overall World Cup stage gold and his second individual gold, the previous one being in Putian in 2019. With this achievement, India currently leads the ISSF World Cup standings with two golds and two silver medals.
