Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Santanu Sen has resigned from the post of national spokesperson of the Trinamool Congress. In a resignation letter addressed to party chairperson Mamata Banerjee and dated May 28, 2026, Sen stated that he had worked as a dedicated soldier of the party since its inception and had always attempted to carry out responsibilities assigned to him with sincerity. He also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for providing him opportunities to serve in various capacities over the years.
In the letter, Dr. Sen stated that despite not always agreeing personally with certain controversial issues, he had continued to defend the party publicly during difficult times. However, he wrote that under the current circumstances in Bengal—including allegations relating to tax burdens, extortion, and job-related corruption—it had become difficult for him to continue supporting these matters as a party spokesperson. Citing his conscience and responsibility toward the people of Bengal, he requested the party leadership to accept his resignation from the position of national spokesperson.
