Angry mob vandalises TMC leader's house, sets fire over corruption allegations
Security agencies arrested a suspected operative linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) from Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district during a joint operation. The arrest was carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) along with other security agencies following intelligence inputs about the suspect’s activities.
According to officials, the suspect was believed to have links with networks operating outside the state, including possible connections in Mumbai. During the operation, security teams reportedly recovered explosive materials and other suspicious items from the location linked to the accused. Investigators suspect the materials could have been intended for preparing improvised explosive devices. The arrest took place late at night after surveillance and coordinated action by multiple agencies. Authorities are now examining the suspect’s digital devices, contacts and travel history to determine the scale of the network and whether other operatives may be involved in the suspected terror module.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the alleged terror links and any possible plans connected to the recovered materials. Security agencies are also working to trace potential associates and verify the suspected links to other cities as part of the broader probe.
