DRDO develops health usage, monitoring system for Navy's MiG-29K jets
Executed by Hyderabad’s Smart Machines, the project is aimed at achieving a high level of serviceability
The project was formally handed over to the Indian Navy as part of the Aero India 2023
The Indian Navy continued a critical project through the DRDO Technology Development Fund to use artificial intelligence in the Health and Utilization Monitoring System (HUMS) to enhance the operational availability of MiG-29K fighters.
The project implemented by Hyderabad’s Smart Machines is aimed at achieving a high level of serviceability and combat readiness of the platform at all times through trending and predictive maintenance.
The results obtained (based on threshold data and AI) would be used by the IN to analyze and decide on maintenance issues related to the engines and airframe. Preliminary tests and validation of the project have been successfully completed.
The project was formally handed over to the Indian Navy at a 'Launch of new technology' event by DRDO on 14 February 23 as part of Aero India 2023.
