The release date for the much-anticipated Bollywood film Dream Girl 2 has been postponed by nearly two months. The makers of the movie, Balaji Motion Pictures, announced on social media that the film will now hit the cinemas on August 25 instead of July 7.
The upcoming film features Ayushmann Khurrana reprising his role as Pooja and Ananya Panday in the lead role.
The delay in release has been attributed to the need for better visual effects in the film. Ekta Kapoor, the Joint Managing Director of the production house, explained that the VFX team is taking extra time to work on Ayushmann's character, to make him look "perfect" as Pooja. "We want to ensure that our viewers get the best possible experience when they watch the movie. The VFX work for Dream Girl 2 is an integral part of the movie, and we want to ensure that we deliver a high-quality product to our audiences," she said.
Dream Girl 2 is a sequel to the 2019 hit film Dream Girl, which featured Nushrratt Bharuccha as the female lead and Abhishek Banerjee, Annu Kapoor, and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. The original film was praised by both critics and audiences and became a commercial success.
The plot of the film revolves around Ayushmann's character, who becomes popular for his female voice impersonation skills and has to entertain people's fantasies on phone calls. While Ananya Panday has replaced Nushrratt in the sequel, the film will still be directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Dream Girl 2 and are hoping that the delay will result in a high-quality product that lives up to the expectations set by the original film.
