Drinking water used for construction in Howrah amid shortage

In Howrah’s Ward 24, Khurut area, a construction site on Joy Narayan Babu Anand Dutta Lane has been found using drinking water from a Howrah Municipal Corporation tanker for borewell drilling. Pipes were connected directly from the tanker to the site, where active drilling was underway.

Workers on-site confirmed the water was from the municipal tanker. Residents, facing ongoing water shortages, expressed concern over the misuse of public drinking water. A person linked to the promoter stated, “All constructions in Howrah Municipal Corporation are illegal—what’s new in that?” No action from municipal authorities has been reported yet.
