Drunk, speeding car crashes into divider in Bidhannagar, three injured

A major road accident was reported late at night in the Bidhannagar area after a speeding car, allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol, lost control and crashed into a road divider. The incident occurred on Thursday between 11 pm and 11.15 pm while the vehicle was travelling from Tank No. 7 towards Baishakhi Abasan.

Eyewitnesses said the car rammed into the divider at high speed and crossed over to the opposite lane, causing panic among residents in the area. Following the crash, locals immediately alerted the police. Preliminary police findings suggest the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

There were three occupants in the vehicle, including the driver. All three sustained injuries and were taken to the Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital for first aid. Police said their condition is stable and they are currently undergoing treatment.

Personnel from Bidhannagar East Police Station reached the spot soon after the incident and seized the damaged vehicle. An investigation has been initiated, and action is being taken against the driver under relevant sections, including drunk driving, with police urging motorists to strictly follow traffic rules.
