Residents across Dubai received emergency alerts on their mobile phones on Friday warning of a “potential missile strike,” triggering concern as hostilities continue to escalate across the Middle East. The notification, issued by the UAE Interior Ministry, advised people to remain indoors, avoid open areas and take shelter in secure buildings if necessary amid the ongoing regional conflict.
The alert specifically warned residents to seek immediate protection and stay away from windows, doors and open spaces due to the potential risk. The sudden message created tense moments across the city, with many residents turning to official channels for confirmation and safety guidance as the conflict in the region intensifies.
Authorities urged the public to remain calm and rely only on verified information. Dubai Police cautioned against circulating unverified news on social media, warning that misinformation during sensitive security situations could trigger panic and undermine public safety.
Officials emphasised that sharing inaccurate information online can increase anxiety and disrupt social stability. Residents were asked to follow official advisories and act responsibly when sharing updates related to the situation.
The warning comes as the conflict involving Iran and the US-Israel alliance enters its seventh consecutive day of direct confrontation. The fighting has intensified across the region, with reports indicating more than 1,200 deaths in Iran, over 70 in Lebanon and around a dozen in Israel in recent days. The escalating war has affected several countries across the Middle East, while the US Embassy in Kuwait has suspended operations following Iranian retaliatory strikes.
