The ongoing factional feud within the Trinamool Congress has now spilled into Kolkata, with a violent clash erupting late Wednesday night between supporters of senior leaders Atin Ghosh and Shantanu Sen in the Dumdum-Sinthi area. What started as a heated exchange quickly turned into a physical altercation, turning the locality into a virtual battlefield.
According to eyewitnesses, both groups gathered near a party office around midnight and soon began hurling bricks and abuses. Local residents were caught in panic as the scuffle intensified. Police had to intervene to control the situation and bring order.
While no serious injuries have been reported, several bikes were damaged, and tension continues to grip the area. Party insiders say the conflict stems from internal turf wars and competing claims over ward-level control ahead of the next civic polls.
Authorities are now monitoring the area closely. Both leaders have so far refrained from public comment, though back-channel talks are reportedly on to prevent further escalation.
