Earthquake tremors felt across Kolkata and Howrah

Panic spread across Kolkata on Tuesday night after an earthquake was felt in several parts of the city around 9:05 pm. The sudden tremor prompted many residents to flee their homes and gather on the streets, fearing a stronger quake.

Eyewitnesses said the shaking lasted for nearly 15 seconds, creating confusion and anxiety in residential areas. People reported feeling doors, windows and furniture shake briefly before the tremor subsided.

According to preliminary information, the epicentre of the earthquake was located in Myanmar. No injuries or damage to property have been reported in Kolkata so far.

The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has appealed to citizens to remain calm. Authorities have also urged people to avoid spreading or believing rumours related to the earthquake.
