In a significant administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming elections, the Election Commission of India has ordered the transfer and appointment of key IAS officers across West Bengal to ensure smooth and impartial poll management. The changes primarily affect district-level election administration, reflecting the Commission’s focus on maintaining neutrality and efficiency during the electoral process.
As part of the reshuffle, Randhir Kumar has been removed from his role as District Election Officer (DEO) of Kolkata South and appointed as Director of Land Records and Survey. Meanwhile, T. Balasubramaniam has been transferred from his position as District Magistrate-cum-DEO of Alipurduar to the same post in Dakshin Dinajpur, indicating a strategic reassignment within the state’s administrative framework.
In a corresponding move, Mayuri Vasu has been appointed as the new District Magistrate-cum-DEO of Alipurduar. These appointments are part of a broader effort by the Election Commission to streamline election preparedness and reinforce administrative accountability at the district level as polling approaches.
