Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted early morning raids at the residence of Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sinha Biswas on Fern Road in Ballygunge, expanding its probe linked to a financial investigation. Officials reached the premises before 6 am, with operations beginning as early as 4 am.
The agency searched multiple locations linked to the officer, including another nearby address within the same residential complex. According to sources, Biswas is believed to own several flats in the building, all of which have come under scrutiny during the operation.
His name reportedly surfaced during an investigation in which ₹1.5 crore was recovered from a businessman. The ED has previously questioned Biswas in connection with the case, indicating an ongoing line of inquiry.
Biswas, who earlier served as officer-in-charge of Kalighat Police Station, currently holds the rank of Deputy Commissioner in Kolkata Police. The searches mark a significant escalation in the probe as officials examine possible links and financial transactions.
