The Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted searches at nine locations across West Bengal and Delhi in connection with an ongoing coal smuggling investigation. The raids were carried out simultaneously as part of a broader probe into the alleged illegal coal trade network.
According to officials, the searches are being conducted in key locations including Kolkata, Durgapur, Asansol, Burdwan and Delhi. The coordinated action reflects an intensified effort by the central agency to trace financial links and individuals associated with the case. In Pandaveswar, ED teams are searching for alleged coal mafia kingpin Maizul. Officials were seen stationed in front of his residence as part of the operation, indicating a focused attempt to locate and question him in relation to the smuggling racket.
The coal smuggling case has remained under investigation for a prolonged period, with multiple raids and arrests carried out earlier. The latest searches are expected to provide further leads as the agency continues to expand its inquiry into the alleged illegal operations.
