Security has been enhanced outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake, with additional central force personnel deployed at the premises. Officials said a total of 12 central security personnel have now been stationed at the complex, indicating heightened vigilance.
According to information available, six central force personnel have been posted at each of the two entry gates of the CGO Complex. While central forces were already present at the gates earlier, their numbers have been increased in recent days. No official explanation has been issued regarding the decision.
The move is being seen in the backdrop of recent ED search operations at the residence and office of I-PAC chief Pratik Jain, which had drawn political attention and public reactions. During the searches last Thursday, both gates of the CGO Complex were temporarily closed as a precautionary measure.
Although there was no formal restriction on the entry of the general public, strict arrangements were made to prevent the entry of what officials described as “unwanted” crowds. The gates were reopened after a brief period once the situation was brought under control.
Earlier, the CGO Complex housed offices of both the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), during which security presence was significantly higher. After the CBI office shifted out around April last year, the number of deployed personnel was reduced. In view of recent developments, security has now been reinforced once again.
