The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated raids at the residences of West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader, Sujit Bose, as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged civic body recruitment scam. The central agency is conducting search and seizure operations in various locations across Kolkata, targeting key figures such as TMC spokesperson Tapas Roy and former North Dum Dum Municipality chairman Subodh Chakraborty.
This development follows simultaneous raids conducted by the probe agency on December 28 last year at nine different places in the city, focusing on the school recruitment scam case. The minister of state for fire and emergency services, Sujit Bose, had been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last year in connection with alleged irregularities in municipal recruitment.
Bose, denying having received any summons notice from the CBI, labeled the investigation as a political conspiracy against him. Notably, he was previously the vice-chairman of South Dum Dum Municipality during a period when around 250 individuals were allegedly recruited to the civic body in an unscrupulous manner.
