Samik Bhattacharya wins unopposed, becomes new chief of Bengal BJP
Central forces have surrounded a house in Khemta village under Raina police station in East Burdwan, as ED officials conduct continuous searches. The operation stems from a sensational allegation of a ₹1.5 crore fraud against Sheikh Jinnar Ali, who is accused of posing as an ED officer and extorting money from a sand trader. The presence of central officials from the Union Finance Ministry, arriving directly from Delhi, underscores the seriousness of the accusation against the prominent figure.
Sources have confirmed that the complaint alleges Sheikh Jinnar Ali, identified as the chairman of the National Anti-Trafficking Committee, had extorted ₹1.5 crore from a sand trader. The complainant claims Ali impersonated an ED officer from the CGO Complex to carry out the fraud. This revelation has caused a significant stir across the entire region, raising questions about the misuse of authority.
Not only is Sheikh Jinnar Ali accused of extortion, but the complainant sand trader, also claims he was repeatedly threatened and pressured by Ali to appear at the CGO Complex. Such tactics, if proven, highlight a pattern of intimidation and misuse of official-sounding designations to exploit individuals.
Based on these grave allegations, a special investigation team from the Union Finance Ministry in Delhi arrived at Sheikh Jinnar Ali's residence to conduct the search operation. The central forces were deployed to cordon off the entire property, ensuring no one could enter or leave during the raid.
The search began early in the morning, around 7 AM, and the investigation team has remained inside the house, conducting continuous searches for evidence related to the alleged fraud. The duration of the search suggests a thorough examination of documents, digital devices, and any other material that could shed light on the impersonation and extortion claims.
