Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids in Kolkata and several other parts of the country in connection with an alleged Goods and Services Tax fraud involving crores of rupees. The case relates to the suspected misuse of input tax credit through fake invoicing, causing significant losses to the government exchequer.
ED teams conducted searches at around seven locations, including premises on Muktaram Babu Street in the Burrabazar area of Kolkata. The action targeted locations linked to the directors of Dayal Commercial Company Private Limited—Jay Prakash Bansal, Gaurav Bansal and Ishwar Prakash Bansal. Investigators suspect that input tax credit was availed fraudulently using forged documents and non-genuine transactions.
Search operations were also carried out in Guwahati and Sikkim as part of the same investigation. Central forces were deployed at the raid sites to ensure security while officials examined financial records and other materials linked to the alleged scam, reports said.
