Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
An elderly couple was found strangled to death in their Shahdara home in Delhi early Sunday, raising suspicions of a double murder. The incident occurred around 12.30 am at a house in Ram Nagar Extension. Police are investigating the case, including a potential robbery angle. Officials have called in forensic teams to collect evidence from the scene.
Police said the couple’s son, Vaibhav Bansal, made a PCR call reporting that his parents were lying unconscious inside the house. Officers from the Mansarovar station reached the residence and found both victims dead. The bodies were discovered in separate rooms on the third floor of the home. The officials began collecting preliminary evidence at the scene.
The victims were identified as Kumar Bansal, 75, a retired teacher, and his wife Pravesh Bansal, 65, a homemaker. Investigators noted injury marks on their faces, which indicate foul play. Authorities are treating the deaths as suspicious and have not ruled out murder. The post-mortem report will confirm the exact cause of death.
A forensic team was dispatched to collect further evidence from the residence. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary for detailed examination. Police are also questioning family members to understand the circumstances leading up to the deaths. The findings will help determine whether robbery or personal motives were involved.
Investigators are analysing CCTV footage recovered from the area to track any suspects. The case is being closely monitored by the Delhi Police, with all possible angles being considered. Officials said the probe is ongoing and more updates will be provided after evidence analysis. They are also coordinating with local authorities to trace leads.
