Ahead of the upcoming elections, tension has emerged in Salt Lake over the presence of outsiders staying in a guest house, prompting an investigation by the Bidhannagar East Police Station. Acting on inputs and complaints, police initiated a probe after it was found that multiple individuals from outside the state were residing at a guest house in the area.
According to initial information, a total of eight individuals from Chhattisgarh and Odisha were staying at the AL 242 guest house, having arrived on April 17. Police have detained three of them for questioning, while the remaining individuals are also being verified. Authorities confirmed that all persons possessed valid identity documents, and preliminary inputs suggest they had come for work related to a political organisation.
Police are now conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact purpose of their stay and their activities in the area during the election period. The matter gained attention after local inputs raised concerns about the presence of outsiders in a sensitive zone ahead of polling. Officials are currently verifying all aspects, and further findings are expected as the inquiry continues.
