CPI(M) leader beaten on road in Kharagpur for protesting wall demolition, shirt torn
In a joint operation, the Port Trust and Howrah City Police removed illegal stalls and hawker encroachments along the Ganga at Howrah’s Ramkrishnapur Ghat. The action was taken to clear public pathways and restore access to the riverbank area, which had become congested due to unauthorized structures. Officials stated the move was part of a coordinated effort to maintain public order and safety.
The riverbank is regularly used by local residents, including women and elderly people, for morning and evening walks. To strengthen safety measures, a Pink Police Booth has been inaugurated in the area. The booth is intended to ensure women’s security through regular patrols and the presence of women officers.
DC Central Biswajit Mahato, DC Traffic Sujata Binapani, OC Howrah Sandip Pakhira, TI Sukanta Adhikari, and other officials were present during the drive and inauguration. Locals expressed appreciation for the efforts and thanked the police for restoring safe access to the riverside.
