Trinamool Congress leader and Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday expressed his support for same-sex marriage amid the ongoing debate in the Supreme Court on same-sex marriage.

He said that 'everyone has the right to choose their life partner'. There is no religion, caste or creed in love. Everyone has the right to love. He also criticized the center for delaying the matter and said that the center is deliberately delaying the matter, it is not serious.

Abhishek Banerjee responded to a question on the filing of an affidavit by the Centre, “The Center is trying to avoid the matter. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, presiding over the bench, said, “We do not see same-sex relationships as one-time relationships but as relationships that last forever. Which is not only a physical but also an emotional connection.
