EVM malfunction reported multiple times in Amta booth, EVM shows zero after 334 votes

Voting at booth number 07 under Amta Vidhan Sabha constituency at Ghardugara Manimohan Primary School was disrupted after repeated technical failures in the Electronic Voting Machine since the morning. According to polling officials, the machine malfunctioned four times during the day, repeatedly interrupting the voting process and causing concern among voters present at the centre.

The situation escalated after 11 am when the Evm reportedly stopped functioning completely, prompting election authorities to replace it with a new machine to resume polling. Officials stated that the total number of registered voters at the centre is 994, and by the time of the final breakdown, around 334 votes had already been recorded before the machine stopped responding.

Confusion arose when reports indicated that after the malfunction, the machine displayed zero during checks, leading to concerns among voters and political representatives about the status of previously cast votes. While the Presiding Officer stated that counting would still be possible through VVPAT records, local political leaders raised questions over potential discrepancies and the verification of already recorded votes.
