A highly unusual and dramatic confrontation unfolded in Howrah, where former Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillor Biswanath Das was publicly targeted and humiliated by local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists. The incident occurred on Kasundia Road, within Ward 25 of the Howrah Municipality, an area Das previously represented. BJP workers allegedly intercepted the veteran politician and forced him into what was described as a literal "egg bath," pelting and rubbing raw eggs over him.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the former councillor offered very little physical resistance during the chaotic encounter, virtually submitting to the unusual form of assault. The localized political targeting stems from deep-rooted local grievances regarding corrupt administrative practices.
The surrounding BJP workers shouting slogans openly charged Das with persistent financial misconduct, including the institutional handling of "cut-money" (illegal commissions), running extensive extortion rackets, and enforcing high-handed extortion throughout the locality.
