An FIR has been registered at Bidhannagar South Police Station against former state sports minister Arup Biswas in connection with the chaos and disorder that allegedly occurred during football star Lionel Messi’s visit to Kolkata and the event held at Yuva Bharati Krirangan. The complaint was filed by Satadru Dutta, one of the principal organisers of Messi’s Kolkata tour. Following the registration of the FIR, Arup Biswas applied for anticipatory bail. The case relates to the large-scale disruption and security concerns that emerged during the high-profile event, which drew significant public attention and generated controversy among sports enthusiasts and organisers.
