Ex-trust cashier alleges withdrawal and misuse of Babri Masjid donation money by Humayun Kabir

A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after serious allegations were levelled against Humayun Kabir, founder of the Unnayan Party and a former Trinamool Congress leader. The accusations relate to alleged misappropriation of donation funds collected for the construction of the Babri Masjid through a trust, intensifying the political atmosphere ahead of the elections.

The allegations were made by Moinul Haq alias Rana, the former cashier of the “Islamic Foundation of India” trust formed for the Babri Masjid project. Moinul Haq resigned from his position and subsequently joined the Trinamool Congress, where he publicly levelled accusations against Kabir during a political event. His statements have triggered sharp reactions in the region.

He alleged that funds collected from across the country and abroad in the name of Babri Masjid construction were misused and diverted. According to his claims, withdrawal of money from bank accounts was carried out using signatures that bypassed standard financial procedures, and he was not informed about the final utilisation of the funds despite being the official cashier of the trust.

Moinul Haq further stated that repeated requests for financial transparency were ignored, forcing him to resign and speak out publicly. He also referred to earlier controversies involving Kabir, including a widely discussed video, claiming that the incident had already raised questions about his conduct and credibility. The allegations have since sparked political debate in his former stronghold.
