Ex-Bidhannagar Mayor Sabyasachi Dutta arrested late at night on extortion charges
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday after he lost consciousness twice over the weekend, officials said.
The 74-year-old experienced health issues on January 10 and was later taken to AIIMS, where doctors advised admission for further evaluation. He had reportedly blacked out while using the washroom, prompting immediate medical attention.
Dhankhar had resigned from the vice-president post on July 21 last year, citing health reasons. His abrupt resignation had sparked speculation, and since then he has made only limited public appearances.
Officials noted that Dhankhar had fainted several times during recent public engagements, including visits to the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and New Delhi. He was admitted after doctors insisted on a thorough checkup, including an MRI.
There has been no official statement yet from Dhankhar or his family regarding his current condition, while hospital sources confirm he is under observation and receiving necessary tests.
