At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 others sustained serious injuries after a reactor explosion triggered a massive fire at the Sigachi Chemical Industry in Pashamylaram, Telangana, on Monday. The incident occurred at the factory located in Phase 1 of the Pasamailaram Industrial Area in Patancheru, Sangareddy district.
The explosion reportedly took place inside a reactor unit, causing widespread damage within the facility. Telangana fire department officials confirmed that 15 to 20 people were injured due to the blast. Several workers were also feared to be trapped inside the premises following the explosion.
Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately after the incident. A total of 11 fire engines were sent to the site, and firefighting operations began soon after. Rescue and search teams were also deployed to locate and evacuate trapped workers.
Superintendent of Police, Sangareddy, Paritosh Pankaj stated, “Till now we haven’t recovered any bodies, rescue operation is going on, we will update in some time.” Injured workers were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, and the condition of several remains critical.
The explosion led to heavy structural damage and thick smoke around the area. Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations while assessing the extent of damage caused by the blast. Further updates are awaited from local officials.
