Explosions heard in Jaisalmer, Indian defence takes down Pakistani attack: Reports

Explosions were reported across multiple locations in Jaisalmer on Saturday afternoon as Indian defence systems intercepted a series of drone and missile attacks from Pakistan. Mohangarh and Sultana areas in the border district witnessed multiple blasts, while Pokhran reported three explosions in quick succession. Residents in Jaisalmer were instructed to switch off their televisions and lights as part of emergency safety protocols, and security measures have been tightened across the region.

Defence officials stated that Pakistani drones were sighted at 26 locations spanning from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south. Targeted locations included Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala. In Barmer, missile debris was recovered, leading to red alerts in Churu and Jodhpur. In Sirsa, Haryana, a Pakistani ballistic missile identified as Fatah-II was intercepted, which was reportedly headed toward New Delhi.

In Ferozepur, three civilians from the same family were injured when a Pakistani drone struck a residential area. One woman sustained critical burn injuries, while two others suffered minor burns. Dr Kamal Bagi, attending to the victims, confirmed that treatment had begun immediately and that the woman was in a critical condition. Interceptions were also reported from Samba, Akhnoor, Pathankot, and Pokhran, with locals reporting loud explosions and red streaks in the night sky.

The attacks followed India’s recent precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on the night of May 7, targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. In response, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks across several Indian states. Night-time blackouts have been enforced in regions of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab as a precaution. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has extended the closure of 24 airports until May 15 at 5:29 am IST, affecting flight operations nationwide.
