Bidhannagar Police have busted a fake call center operating under the name "Next-Era Energy Solution" in the Ecosuite building under Eco Park Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises and arrested Hemant Sarkar, the prime accused. Officials seized chemicals, protective gear, and a laptop, which were allegedly used in the scam. The agency targeted customers by offering fake antique items at inflated prices, falsely claiming them to be rare collectibles.
Investigations revealed that the call center used deceptive tactics, including fake authenticity certificates and chemical treatments, to make ordinary objects appear valuable. The fraudsters allegedly contacted potential buyers, persuading them with fabricated historical details and promises of high resale value. Authorities are now analyzing digital evidence to track past transactions and identify other individuals linked to the operation. Police suspect the involvement of multiple associates and are verifying whether the scam has connections beyond the city.
Officials have urged the public to be cautious of fraudulent antique sellers and report any suspicious activities. The seized laptop and documents are being examined to determine the scale of the operation and trace affected victims. Further investigations are underway, and more arrests may follow based on new leads.
