The incident that sparked the unrest is related to a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to police sources, the conflict developed when the accused and the complainant confronted each other, resulting in heightened emotions among the bystanders. The situation escalated to the point where some individuals began throwing stones, prompting police intervention to restore order in the area.
In response to the unrest, Kolkata Police deployed multiple units to the West Bandra vicinity to manage the crowd effectively. The officers worked to disperse the assembled groups and implement strict security measures around the Kali Puja pandals. In addition to the events in West Bandra, police addressed false reports circulating about disturbances in the Narkeldanga area during the immersion of Kali idols. A minor altercation regarding motorcycle parking occurred, but police intervened swiftly, resolving the dispute without further escalation and allowing for a peaceful continuation of the immersion process.
