Mamata awards 50 lakhs to female footballers of East Bengal team
A fake nursing training center operating in Sukanta Pally, Basirhat, has allegedly defrauded hundreds of students by issuing forged certificates in exchange for lakhs of rupees. The center, RMM Para Medical Nursing, falsely promised job placements and provided certificates with forged MBBS doctor signatures. The alleged mastermind, PK Chatterjee, has been running this scam for years under the names AMM and multiple other organizations, with training centers in Berati, Sandeshkhali, Netajiat, Hasnabad, and Basirhat.
Students from Sundarbans border areas were allegedly lured into enrolling with false job assurances. As reports of fraud surfaced, aggrieved students staged a protest outside Chatterjee’s house, locking the gates and demanding action. A written complaint was lodged at Basirhat Cyber Crime Police Station, prompting an official investigation. Repeated attempts to contact Chatterjee failed, as his phone remained switched off. Investigations later confirmed that he had fled his residence.
Authorities are now working to track Chatterjee and his associates, while students demand legal action. Police officials have urged job seekers to verify credentials and institutions before enrolling to prevent similar fraud. Further investigations are underway to determine the full scale of the scam and identify other individuals involved.
