West Bengal Police dismissed Bhartiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya's assertion that West Bengal, under Mamata Banerjee's governance, has turned into a sanctuary for terrorists. Responding to Malviya's allegations, West Bengal Police tweeted, "West Bengal has NEVER been a safe heaven for terrorists, and the state police will continue to remain ever-vigilant in keeping its people safe from nefarious activities."
This rebuttal from WB Police came after Amit Malviya, in response to the NIA's arrest of two prime suspects in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast, claimed in a tweet that "West Bengal, unfortunately under Mamata Banerjee, has become a safe haven for terrorists."
In a significant development, the NIA apprehended two absconding suspects near Kolkata on Friday in connection with the Bengaluru cafe blast on March 1, which resulted in injuries to nine individuals.
After learning about the arrests, Amit Malviya took to social media to criticize West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, alleging that she harbors terrorists.
In response to Malviya's tweet, West Bengal Police, through its official X handle, stated, "Falsehood at its worst! Contrary to Amit Malviya's claims, two suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case were apprehended from Purba Medinipur in a JOINT operation by the West Bengal Police and the Central Intelligence Agencies."
"The proactive role of WBP in the matter has been officially acknowledged by the Central Agencies," the tweet added.
Falsehood at its worst!
