Falta's 'Pushpa' Jahangir Khan arrested near Nepal border by Bengal STF

The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has pulled off a major breakthrough by arresting controversial Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan, widely known in political circles as Falta’s 'Pushpa'. The high-profile arrest took place shortly after the Calcutta High Court vacated an interim order that had previously shielded him from coercive police action. Khan was arrested from a hotel near Indo-Nepal border.

Khan, a close aide of top party leadership, had been under intense law enforcement scrutiny following widespread electoral violence and irregularities in South 24 Parganas. Jahangir Khan shot to viral fame during the intense election campaigning when he defiantly challenged an IPS officer with a movie dialogue, stating, "If he is Singham, then I am Pushpa".

However, his political fortunes nosedived after the Election Commission cancelled polling in the Falta Assembly constituency, citing severe electoral offences, widespread voter intimidation, and booth-level manipulation. Amid mounting legal trouble and political pressure, Khan had dramatically withdrawn his nomination just days before the scheduled repoll.
