Family accuses SSKM of negligence in cricketer’s death, protests erupt at hospital

A 22-year-old cricketer from Hasnabad died under mysterious circumstances after being admitted to SSKM Hospital, prompting protests from his family who have accused the hospital of medical negligence. The cricketer, who had left home as usual on Saturday morning for cricket practice near Lake Market, spoke to his father around 7 AM that day. However, after this call, he could not be contacted. His family began to search for him as the day passed, and after filing a missing person report, they were informed the next morning that he had been found unconscious.

The family learned that their son had been taken to Minakha Hospital and later transferred to SSKM Hospital for further treatment. According to the family, he was left unattended for a prolonged period at both hospitals. The family has alleged that despite being in critical condition, he did not receive timely medical attention. However, SSKM Hospital authorities have denied these allegations and stated that the patient was provided necessary care.

The family further claims that a civic volunteer from Minakha informed them their son had been assaulted by several boys before being found unconscious. Upon their arrival at the hospital, the family alleges that their son mentioned being surrounded and beaten by a group of boys. After his death, the family alleges that police attempted to take the body to the morgue without informing them, prompting them to surround the police and protest.

The family is demanding a thorough investigation into the cause of their son’s death, the circumstances surrounding his hospitalization, and the medical treatment he received.
