A young woman and her family have alleged that they were subjected to molestation on a train near Bolpur by a group of intoxicated men. The family was traveling back to Kolkata after visiting Tarapith, and the accused were reportedly on the same train. According to the victim, the men sat with their legs hanging over the seats in front of the family. When the victim’s grandmother asked them to move their legs to allow space, the accused allegedly began misbehaving.
The situation intensified when the accused allegedly knocked over a prasad bag the family was carrying. The victim reported that when her grandmother protested, one of the men kicked her in the face. As the train departed from Bolpur, the victim stated that one of the men grabbed her shirt collar and tried to throw her off the train. The victim’s family attempted to intervene, but they claimed that the accused became increasingly aggressive, with threats of further violence.
In response to the escalating situation, the victim called the railway helpline for assistance, but according to her, no help was provided. The family claims they were left to deal with the situation on their own while the accused continued their threats and aggressive behavior. The family stated that the accused made lewd remarks about them and threatened further harm if they were encountered again.
The family has since filed a formal complaint with the police, demanding action against the accused. They are seeking justice for the young woman and her family and calling for the accused to face strict legal consequences. The authorities are currently investigating the incident, which has raised concerns over the safety and security of passengers on trains and the responsiveness of railway authorities and law enforcement in such cases.
