Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Several people vandalised the Farakka BDO office on Wednesday afternoon, alleging large-scale harassment of ordinary citizens during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings. Around noon, an agitated group entered the office and stormed into the BDO’s chamber, damaging furniture and official property. Chairs and a table were broken, while important government documents were scattered and overturned.
Following the incident, all election-related work at the BDO office was suspended for the day. The vandalism disrupted official functioning and created tension in the area, as staff were forced to halt proceedings amid the chaos.
Reacting to the incident, the Farakka MLA accused authorities of harassing residents by demanding unusual documents during hearings. He said the protest would continue and asserted that he was ready to make any sacrifice to protect the people of Farakka, adding that residents would not submit further papers.
