In a devastating incident on Wednesday morning, tragedy struck Ghajaldoba in Jalpaiguri district as two dumpers collided head-on, resulting in the death of one driver. According to eyewitnesses, the collision occurred around 7 am on Teesta Canal Road, involving a 6-wheeler dumper traveling from Ghajaldoba to Siliguri and a 12-wheeler empty dumper returning from Siliguri to Udalabadi. The driver of the 12-wheeler dumper was fatally trapped inside the vehicle upon impact, while the other driver sustained serious injuries.
Local authorities and police swiftly responded to the scene post-accident. The deceased driver's body has been recovered and sent for postmortem examination, while efforts to provide medical assistance to the injured driver are underway. Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision and ensure necessary road safety measures are implemented to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
