Kasba Gangrape: Court sends all 3 accused to 7-day police custody
A father, mother, and their son were found dead inside a locked flat in Shivalaya Apartment on Hatpukur Lane in the Jagachha Ramrajatala area of Howrah. The deceased were identified as Balram Khan (65), his wife Shelly Khan (57), and their son Sambrit Khan. Balram was a retired LIC employee, Shelly worked at a post office, and their son was employed at an IT company. According to neighbours, the family maintained good relations and had no visible problems.
On the day of the incident, the flat remained locked from the inside since morning. A relative, unable to contact the family by phone, arrived at the apartment and found no response despite repeated knocking. Other residents gathered, and the Jagachha police were informed. Upon arrival, police broke open the door and recovered the bodies—Balram and Shelly were found on a bed in one room, and Sambrit's body was recovered from another room.
Police suspect that the deaths occurred some time ago and are investigating the possibility of suicide by poisoning. Forensic teams have been deployed, and post-mortem examinations are underway. Authorities are checking for a suicide note and looking into any potential financial distress. The flat has been sealed for further investigation, and the incident has triggered widespread shock in the locality.
