Abhishek slaps 10-crore defamation notice on Madan Mitra over 'murderer' jibe
A tragic incident unfolded in Patharghata, Newtown, on Tuesday afternoon when a violent land dispute led to the murder of a father and son, while the mother was left critically injured. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Muzaffar Mistry, alias Mona, and his 26-year-old son, Bapi Mistry.
According to police and local sources, an ongoing dispute existed within the family over a piece of land in Patharghata. Tensions escalated when the opposing party began construction on the disputed property. When Muzaffar and his family protested against the work, members of the opposing faction allegedly launched a brutal attack on them using sharp weapons, leaving all three covered in blood.
Local residents and authorities rushed the bleeding victims to the Bidhannagar Subdistrict Hospital, where doctors declared the father and son dead on arrival. The mother remains in critical condition and is undergoing medical treatment. Following the incident, senior officials from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate arrived at the spot, deployed heavy force due to prevailing tension, detained several suspects, and initiated a formal investigation.
