In a tragic incident in Chandannagar, a fifty-five-year-old man named Somnath Shrimani lost his life after being hit by a Toto while on his way to work. Somnath, a resident of Lakshmiganj Bazaar in ward number seven of Chandannagar Municipality, was en route to a biscuit factory in Hooghly Sugandha when the accident occurred.
The mishap unfolded as he was crossing the road near Jagannathbati area adjacent to the Sugandha turn, with a Toto colliding with him directly. Despite efforts by local residents to rush Somnath to the hospital, the attending doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
