Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
An FIR has reportedly been lodged against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station over allegations of making objectionable remarks against Hinduism during an Eid programme in Kolkata in 2025 and again during a pre-election protest in 2026. The complaint was filed by BJP worker and lawyer Rinky Chatterjee, who alleged that the remarks were insulting toward Hindus and hurt religious sentiments.
According to the complaint, Rinky Chatterjee had earlier attempted to file a case regarding the alleged remarks in 2025, but claimed that no action was taken at that time. She further alleged that she faced harassment while trying to pursue the earlier complaint. Following the latest complaint, the matter has now reportedly been registered at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station for investigation.
The development triggered political reactions across West Bengal, with the issue rapidly spreading across social media platforms and political circles. Political accusations and counter-allegations intensified after news of the FIR surfaced. The Siliguri Cyber Police has reportedly begun examining the allegations and related digital materials connected to the complaint.
