FIR filed against SP MP Ajendra Singh Lodhi over alleged remarks against PM Modi

A case has been registered against Ajendra Singh Lodhi, Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, over alleged objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest in Mahoba. Police registered the FIR at Mahoba Kotwali police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an investigation into the matter.

According to the complaint filed by BJP district media in-charge Satyendra Pratap Gupta, SP workers had gathered at the collectorate premises on May 11 to protest issues related to the electricity department. The complaint alleged that Ajendra Singh Lodhi and his supporters staged a demonstration at the collectorate gate, raised slogans and disrupted traffic movement in the area, causing inconvenience to members of the public and government employees.

The FIR stated that during the protest, the MP allegedly made objectionable and abusive remarks against the Prime Minister. The complainant also alleged that referring to the Prime Minister as “anti-national” hurt public sentiment and disturbed the atmosphere at the premises. According to the complaint, the MP also challenged BJP workers during the protest by stating that legal action could be taken against him if they wished.

Police registered the case under Sections 132, 189(2), 352 and 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials stated that the viral video related to the incident and other available evidence were being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. The Samajwadi Party had not issued an official statement regarding the FIR at the time of reporting.

Yogi Adityanath reacted to the controversy and described the alleged remarks as “unforgivable”. In a statement issued through his official social media account, the Chief Minister termed the comments unparliamentary and indecent. BJP leaders in the state also criticised the remarks and demanded an apology from the MP.
